The name of the Ore Altai has a history, in the 18th century the so-called large area, rich in polymetallic ores: it included the South-Western Altai Mountain Kolyvan and East Kazakhstan oblast. Since the 18th century, Rudny Altai investigated how the Russian (the ethnographer Stepan Krashennikov, academics Chikhachev P. A., And V. Vernadsky and A. Fersman) and German scholars (historian Gerard Miller, the German naturalist Johann Gmelin, the German naturalist Alexander Humboldt, the German botanist Carl Ledebour zoologist Alexander BREM, G. Miller, and many others). All of them inspected the mines of Kolyvan and Zmeinogorsk, and then moved towards Riddersk (Ust-Kamenogorsk in Kazakhstan). Kolyvan with its surrounding areas and the famous stone-cutting Kolyvan-Voskresensky plant was the center of attraction for naturalists of that time.
